Got up early and went out to Arrowrock Reservoir with brother Jim. Arrowrock is the 2nd of 3 reservoirs on the Boise River. It partially fills a high-sided canyon with two main branches. There was some current from the Boise River in the upper area of the lake. We were using small spinning rods with 6 pound test line, throwing chartreuse or dark green twisters weighted with a small slip sinker. We caught maybe 2 dozen Smallmouth Bass up to about 14 inches, a yellowperch about that size and a 2 foot carp (Jim). Saw 2 bald eagles, a flock of magpies and many swallows. The lake was down, at maybe 52 percent capacity. There were just a couple of other boats on the lake. Jim’s has a walk-though aluminum V-hull fishing craft with a 115 horse and a 9.8 for trolling and it performed great on the smooth water of Arrowrock. We had a great time and were back by noon. It was in the 90’s today.
